Ramadan Shopping Delight for the Underprivileged

Kuala Lumpur, 12 June 2016: This Ramadan, volunteers from Great Vision Charity Association (GVCA), continues to bring hope to different needy families through their Shopping Buddy Program. Ten underprivileged families from PPR Pasir Permata, Jalan Klang Lama were given green packet containing RM100 worth of cash vouchers for the shopping session.

These underprivileged families come from poor background where some are even troubled with health issues and are unable to work. When many people are blessed with an adequate standard of living, these underprivileged families live a frugal life and struggle to obtain daily necessities.

During the shopping session, volunteers were attached to each of the families, and they were seen busy helping the families look for groceries items and comparing prices to get the best deals. Some were also seen helping out the families to calculate their total sum of purchase. The families seemed so happy and expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the volunteers before being chauffeured back to their homes.

The representative of the association, Ms Chor Mun Yan stated that, “Through the Shopping Buddy Program, GVCA wish to ease the burden of the underprivileged and to bring some smiles to the community as Hari Raya festival is just around the corner.”

One of the volunteer, Mr Kang Chang Soon also expressed his happiness for the chance to volunteer for the charity event and fulfilled his wish to contribute to the society especially the underprivileged community.
