Shopping Buddies Help to Reduce Household Burden of Poor Families

Kuala Lumpur, 24 Sep 2016: Ten underprivileged families from PPR Sri Pantai, located at Pantai Dalam have been assessed and selected to be the beneficiaries of the monthly Shopping Buddy program initiated by the Great Vision Charity Association (GVCA). The association contributed RM100 cash voucher to each of the families with the aim to reduce their household burden. The charity shopping trip was held at Tesco Scott Garden, accompanied by volunteers from the association.

Based on the poverty guideline from Department of Statistic Malaysia, monthly household income earning of RM950 and below falls under the category of poor while monthly household income earning of RM600 and below falls under the hardcore poor category. Ten underprivileged families that involved in this charity event are poor and hardcore poor families.

During the shopping session at Tesco, the volunteers helped and accompanied the families in choosing their necessity goods and summing the total of the purchase. The association representative, Ms Chor Mun Yan commented “The purpose of this charity program is to lessen the household burden of poor families while encouraging volunteerism among public in involving in community service.

The charity event managed to draw attention from the public when the shopping session was taking place. A kind hearted woman and daughter who happened to be shopping at the hypermarket also joined in the charity movement by sponsoring a tray of eggs and a packet of biscuit to each of the participating poor families. The participants were delighted and thankful of the kind move by the woman and her daughter.

After the shopping session, the underprivileged families and volunteers had a hearty lunch at the Tesco food court before being chauffeured back to their home. One of the volunteers, Ms Lee Xin Hui commented, “Through this event, I am happy to be able to help those who are in need and I learnt to be grateful for the things I have in life.”

10 Keluarga Miskin Terima Bantuan dari NGO

Kuala Lumpur, 24 Sep 2016: Sepuluh keluarga miskin dan miskin tegar dari PPR Sri Pantai di Pantai Dalam telah menerima sumbangan dari Program Rakan Shopping yang dikendali oleh Persatuan Harapan Mulia, sebuah NGO yang membantu golongan kurang berkemampuan. Penduduk yang masak dengan latar belakang kejiranan di PPR telah bekerjasama dengan persatuan tersebut untuk memilih 10 keluarga miskin tersebut. Baucar membeli-belah bernilai RM100 kemudiannya disumbangkan kepada setiap keluarga terpilih untuk membeli barangan keperluan.

Menurut garis panduan kemiskinan, pendapatan bulanan isi rumah yang berpendapatan RM950 dan ke bawah merupakan kategori miskin dan pendapatan bulanan isi rumah yang berjumlah RM600 merupakan kategori miskin tegar. Sepuluh keluarga yang dipilih untuk menerima sumbangan projek amal ini merupakan keluarga yang miskin dan miskin tegar.

Ketika sesi membeli-belah di Tesco Scott Garden, sukarelawan-sukarekawan dari persatuan tersebut membantu para peserta memilih barangan keperluan. Menurut wakil persatuan Cik Chor Mun Yan, “Tujuan program ini adalah untuk meringankan beban golongan miskin selain menggalakkan kesukarelawan dari orang awam.”

Kegiatan amal tersebut berjaya menarik perhatian orang awam yang bersinggah di pasar raya tersebut. Sepasang ibu dan anak yang baik hati turut menyumbang sepapan telur dan biskut kepada setiap isi keluarga yang terlibat pada program tersebut. Peserta-peserta tersebut yang mendapat sumbangan lebih selain daripada sumbangan persatuan berasa suka hati dan berterima kasih atas sumbangan yang diberikan.

Selepas sesi membeli belah, keluarga-keluarga miskin ini dijemput makan tengah hari di medan selera Tesco tersebut bersama para sukarelawan sebelum dihantar balik ke rumah masing-masing. Munurut sukarelawan yang terlibat, Cik Lee Xin Hui mengulas, “Melalui aktiviti amal ini, saya berasa suka hati kerana dapat menolong orang yang memerlukan bantuan selain bersyukur atas apa-apa yang saya mempunyai di kehidupan.”

Program Rakan Shopping ini akan diadakan setiap bulan untuk memberi sumbangan dan bantuan kepada lebih ramai orang yang kurang berkemampuan.
