Volunteers help families of low-income shop for basic necessities

KUALA LUMPUR, 26 July 2015: Volunteers from Great Vision Charity Association continues to provide financial aid to low-income families to lower their burdens, especially when the cost of living in the country has continue to rise these days.

The Shopping Buddy Program has been conducted by the association for nearly one year and there are more than 100 families whom had benefited from the program since it first started in October 2014.  The program, also known as “Program Rakan Shopping”, is a monthly program where 10 selected underprivileged families were invited for a groceries shopping session to help ease their household burden.

On the morning of the outing, the volunteers drove all the way from Klang and Banting to PPR Pantai Ria, Kuala Lumpur to meet with the respective families at their homes and personally chauffeured them to the shopping mall. Each of the families were handed with RM100 cash vouchers, which is hoped could help ease their burden especially at times like these with escalating prices of groceries.

As usual, the families were invited to dine together with the volunteers for their luncheon, before being chauffeured back to their homes. The families seemed so happy and expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the volunteers before being chauffeured back to their homes.

“I felt great joy after seeing how happy those families are after the session,” said the team leader, Mr. Joe Ang who led the volunteers for this particular event.  However, Joe also expressed his worries as it seems that poverty keeps on growing and the number of households needing support continue to grow. He on the other hand hope that the government will put up more aggressive efforts to fight against poverty.

Sukarelawan Membantu Keluarga Berpendapatan Rendah Mendapatkan Keperluan Asas
