Didik Kasih EduCare Program: Khairul gives back to the society

Student Organized Charity Performing Art Workshop Enlighten Underprivileged Children

KUALA LUMPUR, 7 April 2017- Twenty children from Yayasan Chow Kit have participated in a charity performing art workshop initiated by a student Muhammad Khairul Bin Ramly, 19 years old who are currently receiving study aid from Didik Kasih EduCare Program, a charity program under Great Vision Charity Association (GVCA) that provide study aid to underprivileged students.

Besides receiving study aid from the said program, the young adult also gives back to the society by leading a charity project of performing art workshop using the aid fund provided by GVCA.  “Didik Kasih EduCare Program aims to influence and inspire successful applicants to give back to the society by getting involved in and organising charity activities,” said Great Vision Charity representative, Ms Chor Mun Yan.

Having a great interest in performing art, the young adult has engaged a group of freelance performing art students and performers as volunteers to teach the underprivileged children about performing art. The event was held at Krash Pad KL, Yayasan Chow Kit.

“Teenagers nowadays face a lot of stress and having hard time to speak up their problems. Through this event, I wish to implant self-confident among the children and teach them to express themselves through performing art.” said Muhammad Khairul, the project leader.

During the event, the children were divided into 3 groups and were exposed with different performing art training such as acting, singing and dancing. The volunteer trainers guided the children patiently and gave them basic training in each performing act category.

It was a fun and fresh experience to most of the children as they have never been exposed to performing art. One of the participant, Azlan commented “I have learnt so much throughout the session and I am glad about the chance of exploring a new interest.”

The event has garnered a lot of interest among the children. Some children showed talent during the training activities and some even discovered performing art as a new interest that they can explore in life.
