The journey of self-discoveryMy life changed when I first realised the impermanence of all things 10 years ago. I decided to spend my time more meaningfully with a switch from working in the corporate world to working in a charity NGO. The switch allowed me to open my eyes and see the real world up-close and personal. This has also accelerated myself to be who I am today; grateful and happy.It is not easy when you try to push yourself out of your comfort zone. New challenges arise in all forms and patterns almost on a daily basis when you work in a charity organisation, but that is also exactly what makes living our life worthwhile; getting the experience and learning opportunities that comes with it! Other than the fulfilment you get with having successfully solving each of the challenges, the opportunity to watch the appreciative smile on other people’s face will always makes us feel that the time and effort spent is well worth it! We might or might not have changed the beneficiary’s life through our one single action, but the heart of everyone involved, including those of the volunteers has changed, whether they realised it or not.You will only grow stronger after you have learnt how to give truthfully and love everything that happens in your life. Gratitude and appreciation are what made our life beautiful. Getting involved in charity works and helping others will accentuate your ability to realise this.When I looked back, after years of working in a charity NGO, my biggest takeaway is when you truly learnt how to give, regardless of love, time, nor money, the biggest beneficiary is always yourself, not others. So, learn to be a giver starting today! I am targeting to help raise RM3,000 for Great Vision Charity Association’s ongoing charity programs “Shopping Buddy Program” and “Didik-Kasih EduCare Program” to ensure it can continue to run smoothly in the year 2023. Hi everyone!Korang tahu tak sambung belajar ke peringkat university/kolej adalah satu hak yang istimewa bukan semua orang boleh dapat?Saya, Faraheen, saya dah bekerja lebih dari 1 tahun di bidang charity (kerja amal) di Great Heart Charity Association (GHCA) dan saya dah pernah lihat berapa ramai sahabat2 baya saya atau adik-adik saya yang tiada hak istimewa ini disebabkan keadaan kewangan keluarga mereka yang tidak mengizinkan.Tapi, salah sebuah organisasi di bawah GHCA iaitu Great Vision (GV), mereka telah membantu ramai pelajar yang berasal daripada keluarga yang kurang berkemampuan untuk melanjutkan pelajaran mereka dengan memberi bantuan kewangan dari segi duit sara hidup bulanan dan juga mengajar pelajar-pelajar tersebut bagaimana untuk merancang dan melaksanakan program amal dibantu oleh wakil-wakil daripada GV.Bagi saya, apa yang dilakukan oleh GV dapat memberi impak yang mendalam. Jangan terkejut ye kawan-kawan, pelajar mungkin boleh mohon bantuan untuk membayar yuran pengajian dan mendapat sedikit extra untuk sara hidup tapi cukup ke tanpa duit tambahan dari ibu bapa? Ramai tak yang terpaksa ikat perut demi tidak mahu menyusahkan ibu bapa mereka? Memang ramai, saya juga pernah lalui situasi ini dahulu.Oleh itu saya skrg sedang melakukan kutipan derma supaya GV dapat terus membantu pelajar-pelajar yang memerlukan lagi-lagi di waktu ekonomi gawat skrg. RM100, RM10, even RM1 sekali pun sangat-sangat kami hargai kerana kebaikan anda sekarang, dapat mengubah masa depan orang lain. Satu ayat yang saya pegang dari dulu, kita tidak akan miskin dengan menderma. -

Persatuan Harapan Mulia. Sebuah NGO dimana aku berkhidmat sebagai Pekerja Sosial Komuniti. Sebuah platform yang memberi harapan baru kepada masyarakat yang memerlukan. Pelbagai bentuk bantuan yang telah diberikan kepada golongan b40 seperti bantuan keperluan asas kepada keluarga, bantuan pendidikan kepada pelajar yang memerlukan dan lain-lain lagi (rujuk facebook rasmi Persatuan Harapan Mulia). Semua ini adalah hasil sumbangan dan sokongan dari orang ramai yang prihatin.Secara peribadi, saya nak kongsikan betapa sepanjang 10 bulan berkhidmat disini, saya dapat melihat realiti perjuangan orang-orang yang kurang bernasib baik diluar sana untuk meneruskan kehidupan. Peluang untuk turun padang dan mendekati penduduk dari golongan b40 merupakan satu pengalaman yang berharga dan membantu diri sendiri untuk menjadi insan yang lebih prihatin dengan orang lain. Mereka bukan tidak berusaha untuk mengubah kehidupan mereka tetapi nasib tidak menyebelahi mereka mahupun tiada jalan untuk membina sebuah kehidupan yang lebih baik.Tahukah semua macam mana sesebuah NGO itu untuk kekal kukuh dan memberi manfaat kepada orang ramai. Ia melalui derma dan dana dari individu dan juga badan korporat. Sejumlah dana yang diberikan akan digunakan dan dimanfaatkan sebaik mungkin dan disalurkan kepada golongan b40. Segala bentuk bantuan akan dirancang dengan baik agar tujuan sebenar NGO ini ditubuhkan tercapai dan ramai yang dapat manfaatnya tidak kira agama, kaum dan bangsa.Aku pernah bertanya kepada salah seorang penerima manfaat, apa yang akan dilakukan dengan bantuan yang diberikan dan jawapannya “Makcik dan Pakcik ni berniaga nasi lemak, sebelum ni pernah terfikir nak kembangkan lagi perniagaan tapi duit hanya cukup untuk beli barangan mentah untuk jualan esok dan perbelanjaan anak sekolah, tapi dengan bantuan ni makcik boleh la beli beras dengan barangan lain nanti boleh buat lebih”. Secara peribadi, kita dapat lihat betapa bantuan yang diberikan mampu untuk mengubah kehidupan seseorang walaupun nilainya cuma Rm 1.Jika NGO ini tidak diwujudkan atau sudah tidak beroperasi lagi, bagaimana dengan mereka nanti. Saya percaya, ramai diluar sana prihatin dengan nasib mereka ini, tetapi tidak tahu cara untuk membantu mereka. Kami bebesar hati jika ada individu yang prihatin ingin menyalurkan sumbangan kepada kami dan sama-sama kita membantu mereka. Secara jujur, Persatuan Harapan Mulia sangat memerlukan bantuan dana dari orang ramai untuk terus menyalurkan bantuan kepada golongan yang memerlukan seperti ini. Tetapi semenjak Pandemik Covid-19 melanda Negara kita, semakin hari, kami semakin kekurangan dana untuk menyalurkan bantuan dan mereka yang terkesan semakin ramai. Manakala sumber dan dana kami ada semakin berkurangan. Ayat yang paling mudah difahami, makin ramai orang memerlukan bantuan, makin banyak dana yang diperlukan. Seperti mereka yang memerlukan kami untuk berjuang dalam kehidupana, kami juga memerlukan sumbangan yang ikhlas dari korang semua untuk brjuang untuk terus memberi khidmat bantuan kepada masyarakat yang memerlukan.Secara ikhlas dari hati, kami dari mengalu-alukan sumbangan dari pihak Tuan/Puan. Hello~~ Meet me Nazihah!Saya merupakan pekerja sosial di Persatuan Harapan Mulia. Ini perjalanan saya bersama Persatuan Harapan Mulia dalam membantu komuniti dan pelajar B40. Sepanjang 3 tahun perjalanan saya, banyak kisah sedih, kesusahan, happy dan pengajaran hidup yang saya dapat belajar daripada mereka. Ada yang struggle untuk membeli peralatan bayi, ada yang menabung untuk menyediakan kenderaan yang selesa untuk anak-anak, ada atuk dan nenek sama-sama berniaga di sekitar rumah untuk menampung kos sara hidup harian. Ada juga yang sedang berjuang untuk melawan penyakit yang mereka hidapi. Pelbagai cabaran dan dugaan yang mereka hadapi dalam kehidupan. Mereka berusaha untuk membuat yang tebraik untuk keluarga mereka. Pihak GVCA sentiasa cuba sebaik mungkin untuk menyantuni mereka untuk memahami perjalanan hidup mereka agar bantuan yang disalurkan adalah bersesuaian dengan apa yang mereka perlukan. Banyak kisah kalua nak ceritakan sebenarnya. Tapi ada satu kisah yang saya masih saya ingat.Kisah yang paling saya rasa dekat dihati adalah seorang kisah seorang Pakcik yang menghidap leukimia, dia kuat untuk lawan sakit dia. GVCA bantu dia beberapa kali untuk bantuan barangan dapur dalam program Rakan Shopping. Saya masih ingat lagi ayat yang Pakcik tu bagitahu “terima kasih bagi Pakcik bantuan ni, 3 bulan ni Pakcik dah tak payah beli barangan kering, duit tu Pakcik boleh la guna buat bayar grab nanti untuk pergi hospital masa buat rawatan dan bayar bil hospital”. Setiap kali saya hantar barang bantuan, dia akan jumpa saya untuk ucapkan terima kasih walaupun dengan keadaan yang tidak sihat. Pakcik telah meninggal dunia pada tahun 2021 akibat sakitnya itu. Sejujurnya saya sedih apabila dengar pakcik tu dah meninggal dunia, tetapi dalam masa sama saya cukup berpuas hati kerana saya sudah melakukan yang terbaik untuk bantu Pakcik ringankan beban dia. Mungkin benda tu nampak sedikit pada kita, tapi sebenarnya besar nilai tu buat mereka. -

Hi, I’m Munyan.I’m running this fundraiser for Great Vision Charity with hope to raise RM3000 to support the organisation’s charity programs for the year 2023. They are running two programs mainly Shopping Buddy Program & The Didik-Kasih EduCare Program.Rakan Shopping programs aims to aid the underprivileged B40 Malaysians with grocery aid to reduce their household burden and encouraging them a balance diet.Didik-Kasih EduCare Program- a program that funds students from underprivileged background to pursue tertiary studies at the same time transforming the students to give back to the society by mentoring them to conduct charity project.Throughout my 6 years as a social worker, I have witnessed…- 9 out of 10 B40 families who we brought them out for grocery shopping tend to only buy rice, sugar, oil, instant noodles and eggs (no fruits and green) because they wanted to utilise the money for the biggest value to feed their family. Filling the stomach comes first while nutrition comes last.
- Youth who came from needy families were forced to work after high school to help to support the family. Education has become a privileged and they do not dare to dream further.

Hi, I’m Munyan, I have a calling to help the needy community, and have a vision that everyone can join me in this journey.Long long time ago... (here comes the grandmother story but with a twist)At my teenage times, I was a lost soul like many of us now, living in my own world, not knowing what to expect where the future would bring me to. Yes, I was not born to be kind, caring or even know what it is like to help others. It’s a blessing to have met with my counsellor that literally changed my life (this is the twist part). She encouraged me the world needs a little more empathy.This leads me to pursue Psychology and stepping into this journey. I took a pause while writing this, asking myself did I do a good job in these 5 years? How can I do this better?The whispers in my ears hymns, ‘this is a lifelong profession, you’ll only be better’. My day job is to help someone in need (on food, education, health care needs). My night job is to help someone’s mind in need (on mental health needs).The tough day held me ponder, did humans create a system to make it hard for humans? The good day can be so simple as putting a smile on someone’s face.Throughout the journey, I'm humbled by how kindness works. I learned that the kindest people are often the ones that were once given help, and most of them are thankful and wish to pay it forward. Throughout my 5 years of working experiences in a charity NGO, we did support a lot of poor families in terms of grocery, rental, medicine, transportation fee, dialysis expense, hospital surgery and equipment and so on. But as time goes by, we are seeing the bigger picture of what is the ultimate reason that are making the poor family become poorer and thehuge increment of B40 families in society, the reason that we can speculate, is the lack of good education to the next generation.Very often, the parents who have received very minimal education or no education, will mostly end up in a low-income job that is easily replaceable during economy recession (especially during MCO or CMCO), jobs such as cleaner or contract security guard or factory worker will be the first to be unemployed. What makes it worse is that they might mislead the next generation, telling them to not focusing so much on education but instead to just go work early to support the household expense. Without a good academy background, the children will mostly end up in a low-income job like their parents, and hence the cycle of poverty goes on.Which is why, Didik Kasih is a fantastic project to me personally, because it aimed to support the underprivileged families kids who liked to further study to college or university, but even though most of their tuition expenses had been covered by PTPTN, they are really worried about their accommodation expenses, transportation expenses, and food expenses when they studied in college or university.So, what really impressed me about the Didik-Kasih program from Great Vision Charity Organization, is that they will be sponsoring RM1500 start-up fee (to be used to purchase work laptop or any other necessary education expense) and RM250 monthly for their living expenses, they can use the money to cover their transportation or accommodation expenses. In the meantime, most of them are very independent I would say. They will find some part-time work such as a part-time promoter in a shopping mall in order to earn that money, for their food expenses.Throughout the GVCA supporting period that lasted for 1 year, we never ask anything in return. Instead, we will only request them to organize one charity program/event that can benefit the underprivileged category, which is also sponsored by us for the entire event expenses. We are teaching them to learn to contribute/give back to the society after they received something good from them.This program is certainly amazing and we really need your help to continuously fund us in this program, so that more and more youngster nowadays will receive the proper education, go for a better job opportunity, and ultimately end the cycle of poverty in future. -

在我6年的慈善之路上，我看过了好多，好多的贫穷家庭。很多人很喜欢问我两个问题:1) 为什么你要做慈善？ 2) 什么原因导致这么多人穷苦至需要慈善的帮忙？老实说，我并没有很伟大或感人的原因去选择加入慈善社工这条路，纯粹以一个很单纯的心，想要从事一份真心可以去帮助真正的贫困人士的工作，可以接触到他们再帮到他们，感觉很有意义，就一直这样做了6年对于为什么这么多人会生活在困境里，我有一个听起来很玄的答案，但是的的确确是非常真实的，那就是 “教育”！ 在我们帮助的贫穷家庭里，很多父母都是从事比较低收入的工作（清洁工人，厂工，散工）等等。他们很想要给与一个好教育给他们的孩子，给他们去补习，上大学等等，可是经济上的他们根本没办法做到，所以孩子们的成绩都是平平，而且想到上大学需要每个月在外面租房和吃饭的生活费，他们反而就不鼓励孩子去上大学了。没有学历的孩子，到最后往往会步回父母的后尘，从事低收入的工作，导致 B40 community 已日渐长。今年4月的时候，我听到一个贫穷家庭的妈妈, Puan Rubayah 说到：“今天我很心疼，因为我的孩子告诉我她想要上大学，为了完成他的梦想，我向亲朋戚友借了 RM2900 来帮他偿还大学报名费，可是我的孩子告诉我他需要一个电脑来做功课，我却完全没有办法”当下听了，真的感觉很遗憾。如今的年代已经和以往不同，以前和政府借 PTPTN 已足够支撑学费和生活费，如今的年代 PTPTN 只能够给予学费，但是生活费，交通费，书本电脑等等的开销，贫穷家庭的小孩就算在学校假期去打工，都无法完全负担得起。 为了协助Puan Rubayah 和她的孩子, 耕心送了一架电脑给他的孩子，也亲身教导她的孩子如何使用这架电脑，也鼓励他们向宏愿慈善协会寻求帮助。如今，宏愿慈善协会（耕心姐妹协会）每月帮助贫苦家庭的孩子们上大学的生活费 RM250 长达12个月或更久, 再给予他们一次性RM1500 买书本或电脑来上网课等等。这些孩子都很听话，大学放假后常常会跑去打工来帮补家里的收入！我们只有给他们一个要求，就是在我们帮助他们的这个期间，他们得去做慈善的义工或举办小小的爱心活动，把我们给他们的爱心传给外面更多有需要的底层人士 如今，在新的一年2022里，宏愿慈善协会希望可以向大众做个凑款来继续帮助他们。RM30, RM50 或 RM100 都是对我们有很大的鼓励 爱心捐款： Persatuan Harapan Mulia （宏愿慈善协会） CIMB 800 360 0877感恩您的爱心! -

I’m Jeff from Great Heart Charity Association. Now I wish to support the fundraising of RM500 000 for our sister NGO Great Vision Charity Association. This amount are mainly use for their charity expenses in Year 2021.I have been joining Great Vision for few times, their charity works are very meaningful for beneficiaries. The main charity they do are bring underprivileged families to buy groceries and support students from under privileged families to study university.For some of the poor families, I found that their children might be performing very well in their school result. However, family’s financial situation force them must go to work and earn money as soon as possible. In this case, some of them might lost focus on their study, even some of them force to abort the chance to further study. In our eyes, we maybe will feel kind of pity, but they really have not much choice because of their financial situation.The reason I support the fundraising for Great Vision Charity Association is because I believe the support they giving to the student will really change their future life, it is very important toward them. -

Hi，我是Jeff Tan，目前也正在帮忙一起响应Great Vision Charity Association的众筹计划。这次众筹所得的善款都会用于Great Vision Charity Association在2023年的运营及慈善项目。我本身也从事了慈善社工2年的时间，走访了无数个弱势群体的家庭，我真的认为“教育”是其中一个能够真正改变他们家庭命运的东西。我们无法永远的帮助他们，但是如果能够给予他们受教育的机会，他们以后都能够靠自己去生活甚至过得更加的好。因此，比起帮助他们一些物质上的东西，我始终觉得给予他们教育的机会会是更好的选择。以上也是我响应Great Vision Charity Association的众筹计划的原因，因为这个NGO所着重的其中一个慈善项目”Didik-Kasih EduCare Program”就是专门提供助学金给来自弱势群体家庭的大学生。我也希望在这次的众筹计划中，尽一份微薄之力帮忙凑得RM3,000的善款。如果成功达成目标的话，我也会去挑战自己完成投进1000颗中距离篮球！希望大家能够一起来帮助来自弱势家庭的孩子获得受教育的机会。 Hi, my name is Jeff Tan, I'm currently helping out with the Great Vision Charity Association's crowd funding program. The funds raised from this crowd funding will be used for the operation and charity projects of the Great Vision Charity Association in 2023.I have been engaged in charity social work for 2 years and have visited countless families of underprivileged groups. I really think that "education" is one of the things that can really change the fate of their families. We can't help them forever, but if we can give them the opportunity to be educated, they will be able to live on their own and even better in the future. Therefore, rather than helping them with something physically, I always felt that giving them the opportunity to educate would be a better choice.The above is also the reason why I responded to the crowd funding program of the Great Vision Charity Association, because one of the charitable program that this NGO focuses on is named "Didik-Kasih EduCare Program". This program is to provide financial aid to college students from underprivileged families.I also hope that in this crowd funding project, I can help to raise a donation of RM3,000. If successful, I will challenge myself to make 1,000 field-goal of mid-range basketballs!I hope that everyone can work together to help children from underprivileged families gain access to education. -

嗨！我是FENNY在被疫情笼罩的这些日子里，有很多贫困家庭面临着断粮、断学的危机，堪比雪上加霜。常会听到有人诉说着自己在生活上的困境、很彷徨无助、因为缺乏经济能力而裹足不前等等。曾经接过一通求救电话，对方恳求希望有善心人士能够捐赠奶粉给他年幼的婴儿，因为他刚被裁员，没有多余的钱可以买奶粉。一包价值RM20左右的奶粉，对其他人而言，也许是一顿午餐的钱；但是，对于当时的他来说，可能就是“压倒骆驼的最后一根稻草”。很庆幸的是，宏愿慈善协会 （GREAT VISION CHARITY ASSOCIATION）依旧做着“陪购计划”(SHOPPING BUDDY PROGRAM)，这个项目是属于一次性的资助，社工们会审查并筛选符合条件的受惠家庭，让他们获得生活上所需要的物资。除此之外，宏愿慈善协会还设有“关怀教育助学计划”（DIDIK-KASIH EDUCARE PROGRAM），目的就是希望帮助这些弱势群体的莘莘学子，减轻家长的部分负担，让孩子们可以继续他们的学业，待将来出社会谋生时，能有更多、更好的选择捐款多少不设限，您捐进来的每一分钱，我们都会无比感恩与珍惜。因为您的捐款可以让这个平台能够持续帮助更多有需要被援助的弱势群体。您愿意帮助他们吗？ -

Hi we’re from Great Vision Association/Persatuan Harapan Mulia. We’re working as a social worker. Becoming a social worker in charity company is one of our goals that we admire before. This journey career is really different from the others because we have to contribute to our communities.Great Vision donation funds goes to all the people who is in need especially for B40 student allowance (Didik kasih program), Food basket for PPR communities and activities to support the urban poor community in Malaysia.Some of these people comes from underprivilege families and poor. Hi to all my friends,Most of people are aware that I am actively doing my social works after my resignation in Apr 2020 under Great Heart Charity Association (GHCA).Currently one of the related association of GHCA with name of Great Vision Charity Association (GVCA) is running crowdfunding campaign to fundraise RM450,000 for enable them to continue with their charity program for 2023.Therefore I’m volunteer to be their fundraiser for GVCA with hope to raise RM3,000 to support the organisation’s charity programs for the year 2023. They are running two programs mainly Shopping Buddy Program & The Didik-Kasih EduCare Program.Rakan Shopping programs aims to aid the underprivileged B40 Malaysians with grocery aid to reduce their household burden and encouraging them a balance diet. . Every RM50 donated allows the charity to put together a grocery pack for a B40 family which will last the family a month.Didik-Kasih EduCare Program– a program that funds students from underprivileged background to pursue tertiary studies at the same time transforming the students to give back to the society by mentoring them to conduct charity project.I’m appealing to every one of you who are reading this. 對於教育，一直以来是我心中最大的遗憾！已故中国总理周恩来讲过一句话：再穷不能穷教育，再苦不能苦孩子！我Angie 黃媚菁來自巴生，是耕心慈善社区服务中心的负责人兼公关，对于我本身小时候因家境不好而读书少，我只能靠后天的努力去争取多看书学习和充实自己，小时候就常常叫姐姐帮我借学校的图书馆的书回来给我看，写日记是我唯一练习成长的方式。至到自己的二个孩子也因为家庭环境关系，导致他们都只是读到高中二而停学，这对于身为母亲的我感到很遗憾和难过。在耕心慈善社区服务中心工作中，有一项为贫困小孩补习是由我负责，当我接任了这份差事，我就希望从中可以为这些贫困小孩带来更多的学习知识和空间。从2016年5月开始学生只有区区5/6名，至到今天的50名学生，无论遇到什么难题，我都永不放弃和逃避，我都会想尽办法或向上层商讨对策的解决方案。对于贫困的家庭来说，孩子读好书无疑是家里摆脱贫困的唯一希望，而在这里也是让我可以弥补自己的孩子没有完成学业的遗憾。我希望通过宏愿慈善协会(Great Vision CHARITY)造就更多无能为力的贫困学生，能够圆他们的升学梦。 Great Vision CHARITY 是GREAT HEART 旗下专帮助贫困家庭的18岁学生升学，孤儿院的18岁孩子升学和帮助贫穷家庭的一些生活费等。我希望通过Great Vision CHARITY 让更多的人贫穷孩子能够圆他们的梦想，造就社会的栋梁。“再穷不能穷教育，再苦不能苦孩子”这句话，深深烙在了华裔的内心深处，更是一代又一代华裔潜意识中，必须传承的使命。孩子的教育实为人之根，家之幸，国之本。但愿能借用大家的正能量，大发慈悲和爱心，圆孩子们的一个梦想！ 感恩的心，感恩有您！
